The Royal Hotel

Had an issue with my booking, Hotel didn't have me down for a room despite Booking Agent (Expedia) taking the funds. Despite not really being the fault of the Royal they sorted me out with a room at their other sister hotel the Ugadale along the road, and to add they honored the price of the Room I had paid for the Royal which is normally a bit cheaper than the Ugadale. It's Golf Season so finding a place in Campbeltown is tough but the staff at the Royal saved me a night sleeping in the truck! Credit to your Reception staff for making me feel at ease and in their care. Can't remember her name! (Began with an A!) I owe her a pint!

We checked in for two nights bed and breakfast in a Superior Room at the Royal Hotel in Campbeltown. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a superbly comfortable bed. We enjoyed fantastic views over the harbour. Our only quibbles were that the room was furnished in a slightly old fashioned style and that the tea making making facilities seemed to be just for one person. Staff were generally friendly and approachable, especially on reception. However, the Harbourview Grille was a disappointment. We waited 45 minutes for our starter to arrive. The cullen skunk was tasty but the main courses were unexceptional. We were disappointed that there were not more fish options and surprised that there was no enquiry about possible allergies. Breakfast in the morning is served in the Harbourview Grille. There is a good range of cold foods in the buffet but the range of hot foods is very restricted for those on a vegetarian or vegan diet. The service in the morning was dreadfully poor. We were told that we could sit anywhere and then advised that we had sat a table which had not been set up for breakfast. Overall, it would be nice if the person on duty could be a little more attentive.

Went out for dinner in the lounge bar. Fabulous meal with a view out side as well. Reasonable prices, good service and friendly manner.

I was pleasantly surprised about how amazing this place was. The Hotel is in a a great location, amazing Employees. Extremely friendly locals that made us feel welcome. The Employees helped us get reservations, get around town, even let us know about a steamboat that was visiting the town. We will be back someday.

The Royal has been our hotel of choice for the last 12 years visiting Campbeltown. Rooms are fantastic. Pub is great. Staff friendly. Great location. Plenty of on street parking.

Popped into hotel bar on our stop from the Waverley Paddle Steamer trip. Restaurant was very busy so we ordered a bowl of soup and a drink at the bar. Great soup with fresh hot roll, friendly staff (they were run off their feet) and a comfy environment to stop in for an hour. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Popped in without booking and got a friendly reception. Cullen skink was perfect. Carbonara equally perfect Asked for a smaller portion at full price but girls wouldn’t hear of it so their tip went UP. Food matched the service 5* Thankyou

Stayed here last week for a 3 night break. First visit to Campbeltown and the Mull of Kintyre. Service excellent from check in to departure, got to mention Caroline, who was so helpful over the day's we were there, she is a walking encyclopedia of Campbeltown. The view from the room over the Harbour, fantastic. Hopefully will make a return visit in the future.

A great hotel. Lovely views and the staff is very accommodating. Sad we could only stay one night. It will definitely be a stop on our next trip.

We had a comfortable stay, big rooms, comfy beds and the Anna on the front desk was lovely and helpful. It does need some more modern charging facilities for travellers. A fridge would also be helpful. I think it was extremely expensive (given our other Accom and was half the price with food included.we dined in their restaurant and the food was good, and big portions. Hotel is right near the water, close to supermarkets, the spring bank distillery and the leisure centre
